Better Ramps for Le$$!
Every mustang owner needs a good floor jack and a set of good jack stands. However I am always a little nervous about crawling under my car with the jack stands and the jack for back up. When I have the room I also slide the rims under the car (when I have them off) for some extra safety.
Anyway my daily driver is very low to the ground as is my mustang. I decided some ramps would make life a little easier. I don't have the money for lift but I figured that this would work just fine.

The hard part
I ran down to my local Home Depot store and asked the lumber guy to pull me three 10 foot 2x12" boards and cut them into these lengths (see below). While he was doing that I grabbed a box of out door 2.5" wood deck screws. When I got them home I took my table saw and cut the ends to a 45 degree point. Easy to do.
Board 1.
1 piece 3 foot long
1 piece 3.5 feet long
1 piece 3.5 feet long
Board 2.
1 piece 3 foot long
1 piece 2.5 foot long
1 piece 2.5 foot long
1 piece 2 foot long
Board 3.
1 piece 2 foot long
1 piece 4 foot long
1 piece 4 foot long
Notice that each boards cuts add up to 10 feet? Now I have all the pieces I need.
Handles
Since these are going to be top notch and heavy ramps I wanted handles. I took both of the 3 foot boards that I had and drilled out two holes and then a smaller hole from the side into the bigger holes (see picture). I think took some scrap rope and scrap garden hose and tied up some handles. Do this before you move on to the next step. Suggestion, cut the holes so when you are finished the handles are on the opposite side of each board. So the sit on the out side of the ramps when they are completed.
Assemble these bad boys!
For each ramp you will want to use one of each cut (2', 2.5', 3', 3.5', 4') and you want to start with the small 2' cut.. this is the top board. Flip it up side down and put the 2.5, again up side down, and screw it to the 2' board. Then do the same thing for the 3' board and so on. This way the screws are under neath and won't cause you any issues. Don't be shy on how many you use. Take your time and align the end of the boards.
Top Stop Blocks
Now that you have two ramps you might want to add some stop blocks. I used some 2x4" scrap and some of the left over 45 degree cuts and screwed them together. Looks pretty good! Easy to use and not so bad to store. They don't slip, are plenty wide for my big tires, and provide lots of safe clearance under the car.
For extra safety I used a big stop block under the back tire. Be safe. As you can see they provide lots room under the car. They don't take up too much room either. Be sure you drive on the straight, maybe get someone to help you drive up on them.
