So one day I am at work and I check my emails (yes I surf at work from time to time) and there is a email from a forum friend. He says that if he was still living in my area that he would jump on the offer and at the bottom of the email is a url to a post on a mustang forum site.
I click on the url and it leads to a post from Dynamat. They were looking for a '65/'66 mustang that they could use to make a cut to fit Dynamat kit with. So I sent them a email and told that that I would consider pulling my interior out if they wanted to use my car for there kit. Then I left for home.
It takes about 30 min for me to get home. When I got home my wife tells me that someone called from Dynamat and that they wanted to speak to me promptly. So I dialed the number and spoke to the rep and after a short call I committed to dropping off my car to them for a week or two.
The deal was easy. I pull my interior, drop the car off to them to use for a week or two. They get to use the car to make a template, cut and install a kit, and then take pictures for promotion. In return I get what ever was installed in the car and the first kit off the line.
For me it was no big deal. I had planned on pulling the interior at some point but not just then but I figured for a whole complete new kit that won't cost me anything, why not? The Dynamat headquarters is only about 30 min from me so I got the car ready and made the trip.
As promised they kept my car indoors, gave me a tour of their shop, showed me the products they had, and gave me a up close look at the Dynamat collection of cars. Man, they have some nice cars. I took lots of pictures!!
They kept me up to date on the progress by emailing me pictures of the work they had done and after two weeks it was time to go and pick up my car.
The complete is complete. From the hood kit to the floor kit, the door kits, the package tray, the roof kit, the trunk kit, the deck lid kit, all of it was done. All installed into the car. Very cool!. Then while I was there they cut a brand new kit for me to install later. So I walked away with two kits.
Why two kits you ask? Becuase of the one downer about this whole project. When I removed my interior, which was shot anyway, I descovered that my floor pans were shot and needed replacement. I was pretty sure that this was the case before I pulled my interior and explaned that to the Dynamat rep and they said that this would pose no problem and offered the extra kit due to my having the pull the installed kit out to make repairs. So guess what project was next? FLOOR PANS!!
The kit in the box for later
Due to my floors being bad and the agreement made I got the first kit off the line. Sweet!
First look at my floor pans. Not to bad but not good
