Vario - Centric Camber Adjuster Kit
Technical Description:
The Vario-Centric Camber Adjuster is a retrofit kit that adds camber adjustability to your 65-66 Mustangs lower control arms. This eliminates the need of adding or removing shims to the upper control arms during alignment. Slotted weld-on brackets, similar to those found on the 67-73 models, are provided. They are welded onto the lower control arm mount and the round hole is elongated. The camber is then adjusted at the lower control arm mounting point with the square vario-centric plates that lock in place when bolted down. These plates will not move or rotate under heavy loads.
Tweet66 hooked me up!
I wasn't going to do this mod. I was worried about the welding and doing something that resulted in no turning back. Plus the $100 (average cost) was more than I had at the time of my 'Best Bang for the Buck' suspension project. Then I got a package in the mail from my friend Tweet66. He hooked me up with the kit. So I figured that I needed to take the plunge and go for it. The installation is pretty straight forward. Just follow the directions on first putting it in place and then weld on a nice clean surface and grind out the center to fit the brackets which are welded on. I need to pick up some more grinding stones before I can finish.
OK. The grinding stones suck. I got some of those step drill bits and they ROCK! They took care of drilling out the camber kit holes in no time. I have to say one of the hardest things of the entire suspension project was grinding out them holes. I also took some time and got my welds redone, they are SOLID, but still a bit ugly. Anyway they are in per the instructions. Thanks again TWEET66!
Something to mention, this kit does not completely remove the need for all the shims. I still have to have some so the UCA can clear the strut tower. A tip from TWEET66 was to leave one shim on the front bolt on each UCA for a little more advantage. Now I just need a alignment.
